L’époque étudiée va de la naissance de Timour en 1336 ap J.C., grand conquérant mais aussi grand bâtisseur qui a marqué l’architecture de son pays, jusqu’à la fin de l’époque timouride, vers 1507 ap J.C. Les édifices bâtis par des artisans déportés par le chef de guerre sont d’échelle colossale, regorgent de matériaux précieux, utilisent des techniques de construction avancées pour les coupoles notamment et ce qui est le plus remarquable, l’utilisation à profusion de céramiques glaçurées qui recouvrent entièrement les monuments de leurs belles couleurs. Les villes  de Samarcande et de Shahrisabz enrichissent l’héritage architectural de l’Asie Centrale et du monde musulman. Les édifices des timourides à Samarcande sont en très grand nombre mais il ne reste de nos jours qu’un Palais, celui de l’ Ak-Saray (le Palais blanc), à Shahrisabz.

English abstract

The studied goes from the birth of Timour in 1336 AD, powerful conqueror but also builder who marked the architecture of his country, until the end of the Timurid period, about 1507 AD. The buildings created by transported craftsmen are of colossal scale, abound of invaluable materials, use techniques of advanced construction in particular for the cupolas and what is most remarkable, the use of a lot of glazed ceramics which entirely recovers the buildings of their beautiful colours. The towns of Samarkand and Shahrisabz enrich the architectural heritage of Central Asia and the Muslim world. The Timurids buildings of Samarkand are in great number but there is nowadays only one palace, the Ak-Saray (the white Palate) of Shahrisabz.
